Been a while…

…since we checked in on the not-a-civil-war that they’re having (not having?) in Iraq.
So the latest news shows… more bodies being found all over the place. More bombings. More people being dragged from their homes to be tortured and shot.
The Sunnis are trying to “ethnic cleanse” the areas they live in. The Shiites are resisting. The Kurds are doing their own thing in the northern areas. The Iranians are sitting, watching very closely, and working on building themselves a nuclear bomb.
What a mess. Even if you’re a 100% staunch supporter of the decision to go to war, can you honestly look at this situation today and think that Bush and company have any kind of grasp on what to do? I can’t imagine it, but there’s still roughly 30% of the nation that approves of the job he’s doing.
I say we have two main choices. Either go “all in”, to steal a phrase from the poker craze that has swept America lately, or get the heck out. Either start a draft up, massively build up the armed forces, and send another 150,000 troops to Iraq to totally and completely enforce a true secular, democratic republic, or just get out now.
Anything else is just half-assed and probably not going to work, unless you define “work” as the situation we’re in right now continuing.
