Or at least let the Iraqis start taking the lead.
GIs ask when Iraqis will take the lead, is a pretty good article, short, talking about how our soldiers are starting to say it’s time to think about us getting out and the Iraqis taking over the fight in their own country.
The thing is that once we’re gone, all the guys who’re putting time and energy into fighting to eject us are going to turn to fighting other Iraqis for control of the new nation. And we broke it, so we bought into it, and we’re responsible for it to at least some extent.
What I find distressing is that it’s obvious the present model for the new Iraq isn’t working and probably isn’t going to work. Before we leave, we should probably fix that, but with Bush in charge you know perfectly well that we won’t; in the Bush Administration, hard facts are ignored in favor of what they believe.
So we’ll continue to screw it up. The good news is that after another two years of this, in 2008 we’ll be so sick of what Bush has done that we’ll probably vote in a Democrat who can straighten things out.

I’ve had brief moments of internet fame in the past via this blog. I had some entries that made it to the rescue list on DailyKos, and that generated some serious numbers of traffic.
Checking my stats out, I had a sudden spike of visitors- up to over a thousand in a single day. What the heck did I write that was so popular?
Well, here’s the quote from the page that referred a bunch of people to me…
Very loosely translated, that means:
In the US Blogs all do not seize a party on one side for Boeing. “as an airplane fan I find the messages (of airbus) exciting to concern”, write for instance a Blogger named “Blue Eyed Buddhist”, “because competition a good thing am and because I see reluctantly that an airplane does not have a success.” Another commentates: “that could be a disaster for airbus”, adds however: “I cannot wait for it to see the A380 in genuine. The airplane is fantastic!”
(I got this translation from Babelfish on Alta Vista.)
Basically, it was a German article about the Airbus A380 program’s problems, and was talking about what some American blogs were saying about it. They also provided a link to my blog, so guten tag to my German visitors.
The web is a funny thing sometimes.
