Living life in the big city…

Stick a fork in her

She’s done. I don’t understand why Hillary Clinton continues to act as though there’s any chance she will win the Democratic nomination for President.

Obama has her beat in number of states won. He has her beat in the popular vote. He has her beat in the number of delegates. He’s even almost got her beat in the number of superdelegates, and I expect that with the defections to him in the next couple of weeks, plus the number of undecided superdelegates that will come down on his side, he’ll have her beat THERE, too.

The only way that she could possibly win at this point is to somehow convince the remaining undecided supers to massively swing her way AND to win over 70% of the remaining delegates that are available in elections. Obama will win Oregon and come within a few percentage points in at least a few of the remaining states.

Oh yeah, her campaign is also broke- tens of millions in debt, actually- and the media is starting (finally!) to report the hard numbers about how hopeless her cause is.

I’ve written on here before about how it’s both charming and infuriating at times how we humans refuse to accept reality. Hillary is refusing to accept the fact that there’s a fork stuck in her ass, but it doesn’t change the fact that she is D - U - N done.

Here’s an interesting interactive map. What’s interesting is that it shows Texas as being mixed; while Clinton did win the primary VOTE, the reality (dammit, there’s that word again) is that Obama won more delegates there. Why? Because Texas splits its delegates between the results of the primary and their caucus, and Obama beat her by a greater margin in the caucus than she beat him in the primary.

And the map shows Florida and Michigan, but again the reality is that those states are special cases. In Florida, neither candidate campaigned, but Clinton’s side thinks Florida’s votes should count (huh?) In Michigan, Obama wasn’t even on the BALLOT; he withdrew at the party’s request. How on earth is THAT a fair vote?

No, she’s toast, and the sooner she and Bill wake up to that fact, the better.
